Center for Integrative Bee Research Launch and Pollination Research Workshop
Through a strategic hiring initiative, UC Riverside has recently become a major hub of pollination research. To formalize the research connections between the nine UCR laboratories that work with pollinators or on pollination services, the Center for Integrative Bee Research (CIBER) is recently created.
The workshop started off with morning coffee, followed by introductions and presentations about CIBER’s research capabilities. Throughout the day, stakeholders and researchers formed breakout groups (agriculture, managed wildlands, honey bee health, wild bee health) that identified and discusssed research gaps. Together, we discussed how CIBER researchers can address these research needs. The formal portion of the workshop concluded with the creation of an agenda of necessary and specific “next steps” to address those needs.
